Text-align problems causing confusion

Currently, I am developing a website aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of the internet.

I am facing a frustrating issue with CSS where the text refuses to center both horizontally and vertically, and seems to be disobeying the styles applied. Despite checking for any conflicting styles, I have found nothing that could be causing this behavior.

Answer №1

To properly center the text within the span, you should avoid using the span itself since it's only the size of the text. Consider using a p element with text-align:center, or add text-align:center to the parent of the span.

If you need to align the content vertically, set the parent element to display:table; and the element to

display:table-cell; vertical-align:middle;
. This approach will help in achieving vertical alignment for the element.

Answer №2

Here is what I observed in your CSS:

.sopa-box .title {
    font-size: 50px;
    font-weight: 700;
    text-shadow: 1px 1px 0px #111111;
    text-align: center;
}

Here is the corrected version:

.title {
    font-size: 50px;
    font-weight: 700;
    text-shadow: 1px 1px 0px #111111;
    text-align: center;
}

By making this change, when you use:

<div class="sopa-box">
     <span class="title">SOPA</span>
</div>

You should not encounter any issues.

Answer №3

Applying the CSS properties display: block; and line-height:200px to the .sopa-box .title class effectively centers content both horizontally and vertically.
