Switch to light mode upon clicking the toggle?

On the top left corner of this page, there's a toggle for "Light/Dark mode". Clicking on 'Light mode' smoothly transitions to dark mode without any issues. However, once it's in Dark mode and you try to switch back to 'light mode', it doesn't fade in smoothly and I'm struggling to make it work properly. What changes should I make in my code to ensure a smooth transition into light mode?

To achieve the desired effect for your dark theme, make sure to apply the transition effect to the elements impacted by it, rather than just the dark-mode class itself. You've correctly applied it to the #dark-mode-button.

Here's a solution for your code: include a transition (transition: all 0.5s ease-in-out) on html{} and .tabs a {}, removing the transition from the dark-mode class. Fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/40y5axcd/

Note that your choice of white text color for the entire html in dark mode renders the text unreadable against a white background. I've left this unchanged as it wasn't mentioned in your original query.

For future maintenance, consider using a utility class with the transition effect to easily apply it to all affected elements when updating the transition duration. This approach simplifies modifications - only one class needs to be adjusted instead of each individual element.
