Relocate the number of records displayed per page next to the pagination controls in datatables

Currently, I am utilizing datatables to create tables effectively using their provided example. However, I am encountering difficulty in moving the "records per page" element, which is contained within a "span6" class of bootstrap. I understand that this functionality is controlled by JavaScript, but I could use some assistance with this issue. You can find the example I am referencing by following this LINK.

Answer №1

This particular div is the one being referenced on that specific page

<div class="span6">
    <div id="example_length" class="dataTables_length">
        <label>
            <select size="1" name="example_length" aria-controls="example">
                <option value="10" selected="selected">10</option>
                <option value="25">25</option>
                <option value="50">50</option>
                <option value="100">100</option>
            </select>records per page</label>
    </div>
</div>

Simply copy and paste this code to another location and adjust the css as needed.

Answer №2

Check out this section in their documentation... DataTables dynamic language. While it may not provide a step-by-step guide on moving elements, it serves as a helpful starting point for experimentation. I successfully customized the "records per page" text and believe there are methods to relocate it as well.

The introduction of that webpage explains, "Modifying the language information presented by DataTables is straightforward - simply supply a language object to the dataTable constructor. The example showcased uses an alternative set of English language definitions instead of the default ones."

"oLanguage": {
    "sLengthMenu": "Display _MENU_ records per page"
}

This snippet should serve as a useful reference for your customization endeavors.
