List aligned to the left and taking up the full width of

Is it feasible to expand an unordered list to occupy the entire width of the page; floating list items (to the left) inside it, without cutting off any overflowed list items if they extend beyond the boundaries of the unordered list?

If I apply overflow: none; to the unordered list, any list items that don't fit within 100 percent are hidden.


This is my desired outcome...

Observe how the first and third list items are still displayed, even though they exceed the width of the unordered list container.
