jQuery enhanced login panel

Looking to create a unique login box or panel similar to the one featured in this tutorial:Check out the 'subscribe' section at the top right

I need a panel like this but with a twist. I want it to open using a slide effect with jQuery or another library. I've attempted something myself, but when I hover outside of the first div (where I linked the 'subscribe' div), it disappears. Hopefully, that explanation makes sense. Essentially, I'm trying to create a login box with a hover event and special effects.

Answer №1

For a clear and easy-to-understand illustration, please take a look at the following:

http://jsfiddle.net/D3AP2/

Key code snippet:

   $('#container').hover(function(){
        $('.hid').slideToggle();
    });

In this scenario, the .hover() function is applied to the parent element, such as the <ul>, rather than the link itself. This ensures that the dropdown does not close unintentionally when moving away from the link to select other options.
