JavaScript utilized to create a pop-up menu for content selection

I attempted to replicate the functionality demonstrated in this example: http://tympanus.net/Tutorials/AnimatedContentMenu/

Upon clicking on one of the restaurant menu items, the content menu would appear. Despite my efforts, I was unable to achieve the same effect using the provided code for creating a popup content menu.

My inquiry is as follows: Does anyone have tutorials or examples that could assist me in displaying a popup menu after clicking an anchor tag?

I hope that my question is clear and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
