Issue with Collapse Feature on Bootstrap 3.x Navbar

The Bootstrap 3 Navbar expands properly in full screen and on a browser with a small width on a desktop PC and mobile browsers, but when using the Toggle navigation button, it doesn't slide down. I have tried to replicate the code from this example: http://getbootstrap.com/components/#navbar ... apart from my own personal includes, all the CSS, JS, and code structure are identical to the example page. Any experienced Twitter Bootstrappers out there who can assist me? Thank you!

Answer №1

Prioritize including jquery before bootstrap.js in your code. Instead of

    <script src="http://www.autoexcelente.com/assets/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

You should consider using

    <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="http://www.autoexcelente.com/assets/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

By the way, don't forget to inspect the developer-tools output (e.g., Chrome F12) for any errors or resources that cannot be loaded. This method may provide insight into what's causing the issue ;) There might be other underlying issues as well. Be sure to investigate further :)

Answer №2

When inspecting the elements on your Page, a JavaScript error is thrown:

Error: Bootstrap requires jQuery

The issue lies in the incorrect order of file inclusion.

You should first include jQuery and then Bootstrap. Make the following change:

<script src="http://www.autoexcelente.com/assets/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Update it to this:

<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="http://www.autoexcelente.com/assets/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
