Issue with Bootstrap alignment on the right side

Just finished creating my 'navbar' in bootstrap, but I'm having trouble aligning my unordered list to the right. It's staying in the middle no matter what I try. Can someone please help? Feeling really confused...

HTML:

<div class="navbar navbar-default navbar-fixed-top">
    <div class="container">
        <div class="navbar-brand">
            <a href="#">
                <img class="nav-img" src="img/span-img.png" />
            </a>
        <button class="navbar-toggle" data-toggle="collapse" data-target=".navHeaderCollapse">
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
            <span class="icon-bar"></span>
        </button>
        <div class="collapse navbar-collapse navHeaderCollapse">
            <ul class="nav navbar-nav pull-right">
                <li><a href="">HOME</a></li>
                <li><a href="">ABOUT</a></li>
                <li><a href="">CAREERS</a></li>
                <li><a href="">CONTACT US</a></li>
                <li><a href="">ADVERTISING</a></li>
            </ul>
        </div>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

CSS:

.navbar{
  background-color:#282828;
  height:83px;
  margin-top:0px;
}

.navbar .nav-img{
  height:77px;
  width:108px;
  margin-top:-12px;
}

Answer №1

To change the alignment of a div element, consider using the class pull-right instead of ul. Take a look at this example: Demo

 <div class="collapse navbar-collapse navHeaderCollapse pull-right">
    <ul>..</ul>
  </div>

Answer №2

If you want to personalize the default css to suit your preferences, simply create a file called custom.css

Answer №3

To enhance the appearance of the parent div, it is recommended to apply styling directly to it instead of the ul element.

<div class="expand navbar-expand navHeaderExpand pull-left">

Alternatively, you can assign a CSS class to the div and then define its style within your CSS stylesheet like this:

<div class="expand navbar-expand navHeaderExpand design"></div>

In your CSS file named style.css, include the following code:

.design{
pull-right;
}

This method offers convenience as you can easily reuse the styling if required in other sections as well.

Answer №4

One solution to consider is closing the navbar-brand div :

<div class="navbar-brand">
    <a href="#">
        <img class="nav-img" src="img/span-img.png" />
    </a>
</div>
<button class="navbar-toggle" data-toggle="collapse" data-target=".navHeaderCollapse">
    <span class="icon-bar"></span>
    <span class="icon-bar"></span>
    <span class="icon-bar"></span>
</button>

Implementing this change resolved a similar issue for me!
