Is there a way to determine the length of the visible section of an overflowing element?

Currently, there is a table with numerous rows causing it to overflow the vertical axis of the document viewport:

As you can observe, only a portion of the table is visible when the document loads. How can we determine the length of this visible part?

Answer №1

To calculate the height of a table by using JavaScript, you simply need to find the height of the table and then subtract it from the height of the window.

var tableHeight = document.getElementById('myTable').clientHeight;
var winHeight = window.innerHeight;

console.log('The visible height of the table is: ', tableHeight - winHeight);
