images do not occupy any width on the screen

Can anyone assist me in setting my image to have zero width on the HTML page? I want the image to remain fixed when the window width is reduced, without impacting the horizontal scrollbar. I attempted using overflow:hidden; but the image still occupies space in the HTML document on the right side.

Answer №1

To restrict the width of the img element, you can apply max-width: 100%. This ensures that the image will never exceed the width of its parent container.

img {
  max-width: 100%;
}

Another option is to utilize max-width: 100vw which limits the image's width to 100% of the browser window's width.

img {
  max-width: 100vw;
}

Answer №2

Instead of using pixels, try setting the width to 50% for your image. Experiment with different percentage values to find the one that best fits your image width. This way, the image will adapt automatically to the size of the browser window.
