HTML - Image is only partially visible

While attempting to set up this theme for my blog, I encountered a minor issue - the avatars in the comment section are not displaying correctly, as they appear to be cut off along with the container. Despite numerous attempts to edit the code, I have been unable to pinpoint the root of the problem. Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

To troubleshoot image display issues, utilize your developer toolbar in Chrome to inspect the image. If the image appears fine, examine the DOM hierarchy for any problems such as incorrect widths, heights, padding, margins, and CSS attributes like "top" and "left".

Within the

<div class="avatar-image-container vcard">
element, the max-height property is set to 36px, which may be too small for the image.

Although the image is actually 45x45 pixels, the image element itself specifies width and height attributes of 35x35 pixels, leading to potential display issues.

Answer №2

When you specify a height, it can cause the image to be cut off.

To prevent this, you can comment out the height rules in the following way:

#comments-block .avatar-image-container {
  left: -41px;
  width: 48px;
  /* height: 48px; */
  margin-top: 25px;
}

.comments .avatar-image-container {
  float: left;
  /* max-height: 36px; */
  overflow: hidden;
  width: 36px;
}

#comments-block .avatar-image-container {
  /* height: 37px; */
  left: -45px;
  position: absolute;
  width: 37px;
}

By disabling these 3 rules, the image will display according to the dimensions set in the

#comments-block .avatar-image-container img
rule.

Answer №3

Eliminate these three elements and you should see an improvement. I believe padding is the primary issue here, among other factors.

#comments-block .avatar-image-container img {
border-width: 2px 0 2px 2px;
height: 48px;
padding: 5px;
}

1) Take out the padding from

2) Remove max-height from .avatar-image-container

3) That's it. Experiment with settings to achieve the desired outcome.

Answer №4

.comments .avatar-image-container
currently has a max-height:36px property. It is recommended to remove this property to avoid the avatars being cut off, as this element has overflow:hidden applied to it.

Additionally, the image has an inline height attribute of height="35", which has no effect in Chrome. It is advisable to remove this attribute for consistency.
