How to position Bootstrap 4 navbar to the right side

I recently started using the latest version of Bootstrap for a personal project. While working on creating a navbar, I encountered an issue with aligning the links to the right. Despite my efforts to find a solution, I have been unable to figure out how to achieve this. Here is the code that I am currently working with:

<nav class="navbar navbar-toggleable-md navbar-light bg-faded">
    <button class="navbar-toggler navbar-toggler-right" type="button" data-toggle="collapse"
            data-target="#navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-controls="navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-expanded="false"
            aria-label="Toggle navigation">
        <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
    </button>
    <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">taïho sushi</a>
    <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarNavAltMarkup">
      <div class="navbar-nav ml-auto"> <!-- Use "ml-auto" for aligning links to right -->
        <a class="nav-item nav-link active" href="#">Présentation</a>
        <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Menu</a>
        <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Contact</a>
      </div>
    </div>
  </nav>

Answer №1

Utilize the recently introduced ml-auto class that applies margin-left:auto and shifts the content to the right side.

<nav class="navbar navbar-toggleable-md navbar-light bg-faded">
    <button class="navbar-toggler navbar-toggler-right" type="button" data-toggle="collapse"
            data-target="#navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-controls="navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-expanded="false"
            aria-label="Toggle navigation">
        <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
    </button>
    <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">Sushi House</a>
    <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarNavAltMarkup">
        <div class="navbar-nav ml-auto">
            <a class="nav-item nav-link active" href="#">About Us</a>
            <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Menu</a>
            <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Contact Us</a>
        </div>
    </div>
</nav>

add the navbar-right class to align items to the right in the navigation bar

<nav class="navbar navbar-toggleable-md navbar-light bg-faded">
    <button class="navbar-toggler navbar-toggler-right" type="button" data-toggle="collapse"
            data-target="#navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-controls="navbarNavAltMarkup" aria-expanded="false"
            aria-label="Toggle navigation">
        <span class="navbar-toggler-icon"></span>
    </button>
    <a class="navbar-brand" href="#">taïho sushi</a>
    <div class="collapse navbar-collapse" id="navbarNavAltMarkup">
        <div class="navbar-nav navbar-right">
            <a class="nav-item nav-link active" href="#">Présentation</a>
            <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Menu</a>
            <a class="nav-item nav-link" href="#">Contact</a>
        </div>
    </div>
</nav>
