How to make a HTML div background fill the entire page

Is there a way to extend the background in a div so that it adjusts to fit the screen resolution? I also want to include a navigation bar at the top right corner of this div for the intro page. There will be additional content in other divs positioned behind this one.

Answer №1

Add background-size:100%; to your CSS code following the background-image property.

Select the dimensions you desire.

Include background-size: 30px 40px;

Answer №2

div {
  width      : 100vw;
  height     : 100vh;
  background : url('path/to-image.jpg') 50%/contain;
}

If you're not concerned about stretching or distorting the image, you can follow Melik's suggestion and set the background value to...

background : url('path/to-image.jpg') 50%/100% 100%;
