Answer №1

Is this particular fiddle up to your standards? It wasn't clear whether you preferred the footer to remain at the bottom of the page consistently.

Update

This revised fiddle ensures the footer is always positioned at the bottom.

Answer №2

It’s a frequently asked question. If you're unable to locate an appropriate design here, then it probably hasn't been created yet.

Answer №3

If you're looking for a three-column layout, the article "In Search of the Holy Grail" on A List Apart provides a great example to follow. I recommend checking out the article and considering removing the #right column from your design.

Answer №4

To ensure equal height for content, consider using a table or display: table-cell.

[UPDATE] Setting up a three column layout with a table is quick and actually functions as intended.

Using floating divs to achieve the same result can lead to inconsistent layouts that are difficult to troubleshoot and require excessive CSS styles and HTML code. The return on investment may not justify the time and effort spent. If you're willing to spend days trying to make it work, go ahead and use floating divs.

I am not responsible for the negative stigma surrounding tables. It's like saying "the sun is bad because it burns you." Tables, when used correctly, can be a valuable tool.
