How come the element is not appearing in the div even though it should be there?

The placement of the image and select menu within the same div element may be causing a display issue where only the first image is shown correctly and the select menu appears outside. Why does this occur?

<body>
<div style="height: 1080px; width: 100%;">
    <div style="width: 290px; height: 100%; background-color: brown;">
        <img class="profileimg" src="profileimg.jpg" alt="ProfileImg">
        <select class="name_dropdown">
            <option>1</option>
            <option>2</option>
            <option>3</option>
            <option>4</option>
            <option>5</option>
        </select>
    </div>
</div>

Answer №1

Consider utilizing the style

style="width:100; height: auto;"
for the image to potentially resolve any issues caused by dimensions.

Answer №2

What are the dimensions of your image? Would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot of your page?

You may want to consider utilizing the bootstrap class img-fluid to better fit the image within the parent container.
