How can I locate the onclick event's source for a div element?

While inspecting the webpage, I discovered a

<div id="logo">

element that refreshes the page when clicked. This div contains both the link logo and image logo.

I do not want this functionality.

How can I identify where this behavior is set?

This pertains to the main logo on the front page:

www.papermepress.com

If you observe, the entire top area is clickable. I only want the logo itself to be clickable.

Answer №1

The reason for the page refresh is not due to the <div>, but rather the presence of an <a> link within it. It is a common practice to have the logo linked to the home page.

<div id="logo" class="grid_24">
  <a href="http://example.com" title="Example"><img src="http://example.com/logo.png"></a>
</div>

Even though the dimensions of the <img> are smaller than the parent <div id='logo'>, it will fill the entire parent <div id='logo'> due to the display: block; property applied. If this property is removed, only the image area itself will be clickable and the <a> won't expand to fill the whole parent <div id='logo'>.

/* in style.css */
#logo img {margin:0 auto; text-align:center; display:block; margin:0 auto;}
