Hide Details tag only on mobile view

How can I easily close the default opened <details> tag on mobile?

I am working with Wordpress. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

<details open>
    <summary>Details</summary>
    Something small enough to go unnoticed.
</details>

Answer №1

CSS plays a crucial role in styling and formatting HTML elements, providing them with a visually pleasing appearance. However, it lacks the capability to directly manipulate the attributes of HTML elements.

In contrast, Javascript shines when it comes to manipulating HTML elements dynamically, allowing for interactive and responsive web content.

If you find yourself hesitant to use JS at the moment, consider a workaround by creating two details tags - one hidden on mobile screens and the other on larger screens:

<details class="hide-sm" open>
    <summary>Details for Big Screens</summary>
    Content that may go unnoticed at first glance.
</details>

<details class="hide-lg">
    <summary>Details for Mobiles</summary>
    Content that may go unnoticed at first glance.
</details>

However, keep in mind that utilizing both CSS and JS together opens up a world of possibilities and allows for enhanced functionality and creativity on your website.
