Guide to animating the height of a div using jQuery:

I'm hoping to create a cool animation effect where a certain part of a div expands to 100% width when clicked, and then reverts back to its original height on a second click. I've tried writing some code for this, but it's not working as expected. Can anyone provide assistance?

#mydiv {
    height:150px;
    width: 100%;
    overflow:hidden;
}

<script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function(){
        $("#mydiv").click(function(){
            $(this).animate({height: '100%'}, 300);
        }, function() {
            $(this).animate({height: '150px'}, 300);
        });
    });
</script>

click() does not support two function arguments anymore. Previously, there was a toggle() function that could have been used for your purpose, but it is now deprecated and removed from jQuery.

Given the simplicity of your requirements, you can achieve what you need with the following code snippet:

$("#mydiv").click(function () {
    var $this = $(this);
    $this.animate({
        height: $this.height() == 150 ? '100%' : 150
    }, 300);
});

Here is a solution that can help you accomplish your task:

Using jQuery:

$(document).ready(function() {
    $("#target").toggle(
        function() {
            $(this).animate({width: '100%'}, 300);
        };
        function() {
            $(this).animate({width: 150}, 300);
        });
});
