Following the completion of the inspection, the next step

Check out my work at this link:

Unfortunately, my code is too lengthy to include here, so please refer to the link above to see the issue I am facing.

The problem I am encountering is that when I click the checkbox after adding an item to the list, the red line does not cover the item and appears to be behind it instead.

For example, if you type in "Dog" and then click the checkbox, the red line will appear between the icons instead of over the word "Dog".

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Answer №1

For a better effect, consider applying the line-through style to the text directly instead of the li element. In this scenario, the h2 tag is the one you should target.

Modify your CSS code like this:

.checked h2 {
    text-decoration: line-through red;
}

Answer №2

Instead of using the line-through text decoration for the checked class to create a red line, you can achieve this effect using a pseudo class. This method will place the line above the element.

To implement this, ensure that #itemList li has a position: relative property, and define the pseudo class for .checked as follows:

.checked::before {
    content: "";
    position: absolute;
    height: 1px;
    width: 100%;
    background: red;
    left: 0;
    top: 0;
    bottom: 0;
    margin: auto;
}

This code will create a red line spanning the full width of the element, with a height of 1px, and will be vertically centered using top: 0; bottom: 0; margin: auto;.
