Ensure that Colorbox remains centrally positioned even while scrolling

I have noticed a difference in behavior between thickbox and colorbox when it comes to scrolling. Thickbox always stays centered on the screen even when the user scrolls vertically, while colorbox fades out and leaves just a grayed background. Is there a way to update colorbox so that it maintains its position on the screen regardless of user scrolling?

Check out these examples for comparison: Colorbox Example, Thickbox Demo

You can resize your window to see the difference in behavior with vertical scrolling.

Thank you.

Answer №1

Even though I'm arriving a tad behind schedule, I wanted to share that you have the option of utilizing the "fixed" parameter in your colorbox setup. By default, this parameter is set to "false," but adjusting it to "true" will yield the desired outcome:

$('#my_box').colorbox({
    fixed: true
 });

Answer №2

One distinction to note is that thickbox utilizes the css property position:fixed for box alignment, while colorbox relies on a relative position. To remedy this in colorbox.css, adjust the line "#colorbox{}" to read "#colorbox{position:fixed}" as I confirmed through testing with Firebug.

It's important to be aware that the position fixed CSS may not function properly in Internet Explorer 6.
