Enhance a portion of your text with some flair

Is it possible to apply styles to specific parts of text that are within an <input> value or a <span> element?

For instance, I have the following data:

{text text} an other text...

I want to add styles to the text enclosed within {}.

Here is an example of my data:

<span>{RFS.KIS.ZWO} JJD000090085077412015021014193191</span>

Answer №1

The JavaScript aspect seems to be missing in this context.

If my interpretation is correct, you are looking to apply CSS styles to a specific part of text. One way to achieve this is by enclosing the text within an HTML tag and assigning a CSS class with the desired style to it. (adjusted layout)

For instance: HTML

<span class="myStyle">text text </span> more text.

CSS

.myStyle {
  color: red;
}

Answer №2

When dealing with the SPAN element:

$(function() {
    var text = $("span").text();
    var replaced = text.replace(/\{(.*)\}/, function( $0, $1 ) {

        return "{<span style='color: red;'>".concat($1, "</span>}");

    });
    $("span").html(replaced);
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<span>Text: {something}</span>

Answer №3

Enclose your text within tags instead of "{" "}" categories:

<span class="mytag">text text</span> text text

Now you can style your class individually

<style>
.mytag {
   color: blue;
}
</style>

or use tags for example (may not work in all browsers):

<mytag>text text</mytag> text text

Now you can style your tag separately

<style>
mytag {
   color: blue;
}
</style>
