Dynamic web design: leverage variable font sizes in the DOM

I'm having trouble adjusting the font size using a variable in my code. Can anyone pinpoint the issue?

Link to the code snippet

<div id = "letter">
    <span>A</span>
     <span>l</span>
     <span>p</span>
     <span>h</span>
     <span>a</span>
     <span>b</span>
     <span>e</span>
     <span>t</span>
     <div>

var list = document.getElementsByTagName("span");
var size = 20;
for (i=0; i<list.length; i++) {
    size+=5;
    list[i].style.fontSize = "sizepx";
    };
alert(list.length);

Answer №3

Check out this useful example in a fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/yRLN3/3/

var items = document.getElementsByTagName("span");
var textSize = 20;
for (let j=0; j<items.length; j++) {
    textSize+=5;
    items[j].style.fontSize = textSize + 'px';
};
alert(items.length);

Answer №4

There was a typo in your typing

The code should be: list[i].style.fontSize = size + "px";

The variable 'size' is supposed to be an integer, but in your code it was treated as a string because of the quotes.
