Does Ext js have a monochromatic theme of blue running through everything

While the blue color may give off a nice office ambiance, it's important to have variety in the appearance of different applications. Is it simple to customize the look in ext js?

Answer №1

Customizing the look and feel of Ext JS has been made much simpler in version 3.x compared to 2.x. For those looking to buy a new theme, there's a website that offers themes for sale: extthemes.com. You can also reach out to the developer for a personalized theme design.

If you prefer a DIY approach, you can easily create your own theme by duplicating and renaming resources/xtheme-gray.css and resources/images/gray, then start making CSS adjustments!

Another option is to utilize the Ext JS theme generator, a ruby-powered tool available on GitHub. This innovative tool is garnering lots of attention and excitement among developers.

Answer №2

While there is some built-in functionality for customization, creating a theme for it may not be the quickest process (which is why there are only a few complete themes available).

Nonetheless, the community is actively working on developing new themes, so you might find one that suits your taste.

We have implemented the slate theme for a significant project, and it has received positive feedback from our client. For more information, refer to the link shared by @Nick Craver.

So far, I have noticed that modifying the default appearance of complex ExtJS components like grids or trees is not straightforward. Nevertheless, one of the advantages of ExtJS is its pre-built, sophisticated components. When working with these components, I tend to stick with an existing theme.

Although customizing components requires effort, ExtJS offers the necessary tools to create unique designs.
