CSS transition not taking effect

Check out my page HERE (it's for a school project). I have a cool @font-face dingbat mail character at the top next to the word "contact" in the navigation. I want it to turn red when you hover over it, but I can't seem to make it work. Right now, it just stays black. Also, when you're on the contact page, I want it to stay red using a CSS class. I've tried different transitions, but nothing seems to work on this mail character. Is there a way to make this happen? Thank you!

Feel free to check out the CSS here

Answer №1

Experiment with this selector:

header#primary-header nav ul li a:hover span {
    text-decoration: underline;
    color: #FF0000;
}

Verify if the text turns red.
