css code creates a stable block with a blurred transparent effect

I need assistance with creating a transparent fixed header using only CSS and no JS. I attempted to use ::before for creating a blur effect with a negative z-index, but so far, my attempts have failed. I know how to achieve this using jQuery, but I am specifically looking for a CSS solution. Can anyone provide some guidance?

Link to the example

Thank you in advance!

P.S. Here is what I am trying to accomplish: Link to the desired result

Answer №1

I managed to figure out how to set a background image, but now I'm facing a challenge in applying a blur effect to all the elements below the header.

.content:before {
  content: '';
  display: block;
  position: fixed;
  left: 0;
  right: 0;
  top: -5px;
  height: 100px;
  background-image: url('http://666a658c624a3c03a6b2-25cda059d975d2f318c03e90bcf17c40.r92.cf1.rackcdn.com/unsplash_527bf56961712_1.JPG');
  -webkit-filter: blur(5px);
  -moz-filter: blur(5px);
  -o-filter: blur(5px);
  -ms-filter: blur(5px);
  filter: blur(5px);
}
.content {
  background-image: url('http://666a658c624a3c03a6b2-25cda059d975d2f318c03e90bcf17c40.r92.cf1.rackcdn.com/unsplash_527bf56961712_1.JPG');
  background-attachment: fixed;
  left: 0;
  right: 0;
  width: 1200px;
  height: 800px;
}
p:first-child {
  padding-top: 100px;
}
<div class="content">
  <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Duis aliquam erat in ante malesuada, facilisis semper nulla semper. Phasellus sapien neque, faucibus in malesuada quis, lacinia et libero. Sed sed turpis tellus. Etiam ac aliquam tortor, eleifend
