Creating an HTML Page and Hosting it on a Server

Currently, I am in the process of learning how to set up an HTML page on a server. Although I have managed to do so, the problem is that an index page appears by default. I do not want this page to show; rather, I would prefer my home page to be visible. You can check the image for reference: https://i.sstatic.net/JIk2W.png

As a beginner in this field, I have opted for a free web host. You can access my website at the following web address:

Here is what my file manager looks like: https://i.sstatic.net/iYesR.png https://i.sstatic.net/zd9XV.png

I have personally created the subPages and Css folders, which contain the CSS and other pages for my website. I am eager to learn how to remove the index page and would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve this.

Most web servers support three default page names for their websites:

  • index.html
  • index.htm
  • default.htm (only on certain Windows servers)

It's recommended to stick with index.html or index.htm as the default page name for websites, as default.htm is primarily used on Windows servers and is not as commonly utilized.

When organizing pages into folders, it's important to have an index.html file in each folder if you want the URL to direct users instead of manually inputting it.
