Clickability issue with Bootstrap collapsible navigation button

I've been working on implementing a collapsible menu on a website, but I'm running into issues with the toggle button. The button appears fine, but it's not responding when clicked.

I must be overlooking something simple. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

<nav class="navbar-default" role="navigation">
            <!-- Brand and toggle get grouped for better mobile display -->
            <div class="navbar-header ">
              <button type="button" class="navbar-toggle" data-toggle="collapse" data-target=".navbar-ex1-collapse">
                <span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
                <span class="icon-bar"></span>
              </button>
              <div class="col-md-4 logo">
                <h1><a href="index.php"></a></h1>
              </div><!--.logo-->
            </div>

            <!-- Collect the nav links, forms, and other content for toggling -->
            <div class="collapse navbar-collapse navbar-ex1-collapse">
              <ul class="nav navbar-nav">
                <ul>
                  <li><a class="about" href="#">About</a></li>
                  <li><a class="products" href="#">Products</a></li>
                  <li><a class="technology" href="#">Technology</a></li>
                </ul>
              </ul>
            </div><!-- /.navbar-collapse -->
          </nav>

Answer №1

Apologies for not being able to comment, but have you included jQuery? The click event may be handled there.

Answer №2

You might find that it's being blocked by another element, in which case increasing the z-index of the navigation bar could help.

<nav class="navbar-default" style="z-index:1;" role="navigation">

Answer №3

My particular situation was not due to the z-index, but rather because I had styled it with float: left causing the following div to cover it up. Using z-index didn't resolve the issue.

To solve the problem, I needed to change the display property of the next sibling div to display: inline-block;.
