Centering content using margin auto does not always work for the entire inside content

Here is some content enclosed within:

<div class="traki"> </div>
I've added the following CSS styles:

.traki {margin-left: auto !important;
    margin-right: auto !important;}
}

The objective was to center the content inside, but unfortunately it did not work as intended. You can view a demo at:

Answer №1

Vertical centering with an "auto" margin is not directly possible for elements.

An alternative solution involves the following steps:

.container {
    display: table;
    height: 100%;
    position: absolute;
    overflow: hidden;
    width: 100%;
}
.helper {
    #position: absolute;
    #top: 50%;
    display: table-cell;
    vertical-align: middle;
}
.content {
    #position: relative;
    #top: -50%;
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 200px;
    border: 1px solid orange;
}
<div class="container">
    <div class="helper">
        <div class="content">
            <p>example content</p>
        </div>
    </div>
</div
