center a horizontal line using StyledSheets in your project

After drawing a horizontal line, I noticed that it is positioned towards the left side of the screen. I am hesitant to increase its width. Are there any other methods to move it to the center? I attempted wrapping it with another view and using alignContent: 'center', but unfortunately, it did not yield the desired result.

<View style={styles.horizontalLine}></View>
  horizontalLine: {
    marginTop: 25,
    width: '80%',
    height: 1,
    //alignContent: 'center',
    //width: 1,
    backgroundColor: '#E0E0E0',
  },

Answer №1

To center the horizontal line, include alignSelf:'center' as shown below

horizontalLine: {
    marginTop: 25,
    width: '80%',
    height: 1,
    //alignContent: 'center',
    //width: 1,
    alignSelf: 'center',
    backgroundColor: '#E0E0E0',
}

Answer №2

To center a div horizontally, apply margin: auto

centerDiv: {
  // ...
  marginLeft: 'auto',
  marginRight: 'auto',
  // ...
},

Answer №3

Give this a shot!

horizontalRule: {
    centerAlign: true,
    topMargin: 25,
    totalWidth: '80%',
    lineHeight: 1,
    color: '#E0E0E0',
}
