Adjusting the spacing between rows in Bootstrap 5

Having trouble with the spacing in my latest markup update. Here's what I have:

<div class="row">
    <div class="col-md-12">
        <div class="form-group">
            <label class="control-label" for="Truck_Notes">Notes</label>
            <textarea rows="3" class="form-control" id="Truck_Notes" name="Truck.Notes"></textarea>
            <span class="text-danger field-validation-valid" data-valmsg-for="Truck.Notes" data-valmsg-replace="true"></span>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>
<div class="row">
    <div class="col-md-8">
        <div class="form-group">
            <input type="submit" value="Submit" class="btn btn-primary">
            <a class="btn btn-secondary" href="/Trucks">Cancel</a>
        </div>
    </div>
    <div class="col-md-4">
        <div class="form-group text-end">
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

The spacing is off since moving to Bootstrap 5, check out the screenshot https://i.sstatic.net/xsMLn.png.

Bootstrap usually handles row spacing well. Anyone know the best approach in Bootstrap 5 to fix this?

Answer №1

To enhance spacing, you can incorporate the my class from Bootstrap for adequate top and bottom margin. For instance, applying my-3 will add 1rem of margin on both top and bottom of your textarea.

The difference in spacing between Bootstrap 4 and Bootstrap 5 is due to the elimination of classes like form-group, form-row, and form-inline. Instead, Bootstrap 5 advocates using Grid and Utilities. This update offers more flexibility in managing spacing effectively. Consequently, many default spacing classes have been removed.
